Engagement process

From first call to written advice

Financial advice here follows a steady sequence so you know what to prepare, what you will receive, and when fees are confirmed. This page explains the rhythm behind every consultation we offer.

The five steps

  1. Introductory call. Around twenty minutes to confirm fit, outline your pensions or cover, and indicate a fee range.
  2. Engagement letter. Written confirmation of scope, fee, and meeting format (Wales office or video).
  3. Document checklist. Pension statements, State Pension forecast, policy schedules, or ISA valuations — gathered before the main session.
  4. Main consultation. Typically ninety minutes to two hours, focused on the decision you named.
  5. Written plan or summary. Delivered within an agreed window, with an optional follow-up call for retirement income planning.

What we ask you to bring

Recent workplace and personal pension statements, a State Pension forecast where relevant, mortgage offer letters after remortgage, life and critical illness schedules, and a simple note of monthly household spending. Incomplete paperwork slows the session; we would rather wait a week than guess figures.

Where advice stops

We do not provide accountancy filings, legal drafting of wills, or discretionary day-to-day investment dealing. Where a solicitor or accountant is needed, we say so plainly in the written notes.
